Let’s be real… your cycling cap is starting to smell like a post-race locker room.
But you don’t dare wash it, do you? Afraid it’ll turn into a shredded mess, shrink like a wool sweater, or that the visor will end up looking like mashed potatoes?
I get it. Too many cyclists have watched their beloved cap go into the wash and come out in a state of total disaster… myself included:
❌ Cardboard visor turning into a sad, floppy chewing gum
❌ Fragile plastic peak snapping like a badly tuned derailleur
❌ Elastic giving up, leaving you with a cap that looks like an old sock
❌ Fabric shrinking so much that even your kid can’t wear it
❌ Colors fading, leaving you with a washed-out ‘80s retro disaster
In short: total carnage. 😱😱😱
💪 VERA bike caps fear nothing (not even the washing machine!)
Luckily, your VERA cap isn’t some cheap knockoff.
Made in North of France, it’s built to handle the miles (and the eveil cobbles of Roubaix), the sweat, and even… the drum of your washing machine.
With its tough fabric, solid stitching, sturdy plastic visor, and fade-resistant colors, it’ll stay fresh ride after ride, wash after wash.
But WARNING! You still need to wash it properly… and no, riding in the rain doesn’t count as laundry—I see you, you dirty rascals! 😜
🧼 3 Golden Rules for a Clean & Fresh Cycling Cap
→ Wash it at max 30°C / 85°F with your jersey and bib shorts.
→ Shake it out after the wash to get its shape back.
→ Let it air dry on a hook or a drying rack.
Et voilà ! Your cap is as good as new, ready to hit the cobbles or conquer the climbs! 🚴🔥
🤷 But what if I don’t have a VERA cap?
• First, check the care label for washing instructions.
If there’s nothing (which is often the case), I’d recommend hand-washing it.
• Avoid soaking it—if the visor is cardboard, you’ll end up with a lumpy mess.
• Focus on scrubbing the sweatband, since that’s where all the sweat gets trapped.
• Turn the cap inside out before washing—most designs are screen-printed on the fabric, so scrubbing the outside could fade the print (just like some of your t-shirts).
👎 What NOT to Do
Even though VERA cycling caps are tough, there are still some rules to follow:
→ Don’t tumble dry—intense heat will warp the cap and visor.
→ Don’t wash above 30°C / 85°F—it might shrink and lose its shape.
→ Don’t use bleach—it could fade the colors.
→ Don’t use fabric softener—it’ll damage the fibers.
→ Don’t let it dry in a ball—it’ll get all wrinkled.
→ Don’t leave a used cycling cap in a bag without airflow (sports bag, plastic bag, etc.)—it’ll absorb nasty odors.
Basically, treat it like the rest of your sports gear! 😉
✨ So, are we giving it a go?
No more excuses: toss your cap in the wash and let it enjoy a foam party with your cycling gear! 🚴♂️💦
And if you’re still unsure, remember this: a clean cap = a happy head… and teammates who won’t run away at the bakery break. 😏
